Hello Saline Area Youth Baseball & Softball Families,
The SAYBS board met virtually Monday May, 4, 2020 to discuss our plan for the upcoming 2020 baseball/softball seasons. We are now postponing the 2020 season until May 19th to align with the current stay-at-home order. We will provide an update of where we stand at that time. Our travel teams will also be on hold until May 19th. We will reconvene as a board then and see how to best proceed.
Our hope and desire is still to be able to give our kids the opportunity to play ball at some point this summer and we are hoping and planning to do so if/when it is a viable and safe option. If for some reason we are not able to have a season this summer, we will be offering refunds to those who have registered.
Thank you for everyone’s understanding and patience. We will provide an update with our go-forward plan on May 19th. If we have any new information to share prior to that date, we certainly will be in touch.
Stay safe and healthy,
Your Saline Area Youth Baseball & Softball Board

We have some very sad news to share about one of our very own. Michael Guenther passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 16, 2020.
Michael graduated from Saline High School in 1974 and was employed by Saline Area Schools for over 20 years. He also was the Head Coach of one of the best travel baseball teams in Saline history, the Saline Yellowjackets. He was very well-known as a great baseball umpire all over the state of Michigan and touched the lives of many players and coaches throughout the state. He loved making an impact on the youth.
In lieu of flowers, the family have suggested donations to be made to Saline Area Youth Baseball & Softball in honor of their father
Please keep the Guenther family in your thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Our organization is non-profit, and we provide developmental leagues where our objective is to reinforce the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority while teaching the fundamentals of baseball and softball.
We offer both House leagues and Travel leagues as options to parents and players. These leagues differ with respect to competitive levels of play and time/financial commitments required. For a more detailed comparison of House vs. Travel leagues, click here.
Attention coaches! Please fill out SAYBS's ICHAT form located to the right and return it to this designated email address: SAYBS.email@example.com
Your cooperation is appreciated.

Dear SAYBS group members,
We are all experiencing a world very different than just a few short weeks ago. It is virtually a full-time job trying to keep up with all the changes and developments we receive from our local, state and federal government.
We are all under a “stay home, stay safe” order from Governor Whitmer. I want to report that your Saline Rec staff is still working hard for you (remotely) and for the community. We continue to plan for summer activities. We are thinking outside the box to keep our members, participants and community engaged and active during this unprecedented time. If you are on social media or on our Remind notification system, you may have noticed all the fun ideas and activities being offered. Our fitness staff have stepped up to offer Zoom and Facebook live classes. We are working on offering additional innovative programs and activities in the near future, so stay tuned!
When we first closed the building beginning March 14th, we had no idea how long this would last and we still don’t. We have received a few questions about memberships and how we will be handling them once we re-open. For our corporate/group memberships we will be handling it a bit different than our regular annual members. We want to keep your group on the same expiration date that you currently have. That being said, when it is time to renew on your renewal date, we will be deducting a dollar amount based on our time closed during the shutdown.
The entire Rec Center staff misses each and every one of you. The friendships that we have developed are valuable and missed dearly. We want to keep you informed on the latest developments. Here’s some ways you can receive updates:
· Weekly enewsletter. If you are not receiving our newsletter via constant contact, go to www.cityofsaline.org/parks and click on the button to join our enewsletter list.

Just a quick reminder about Saline parks and trails…they are open for walking, jogging, biking and hiking. However equipment, fields, benches, picnic tables, courts and little libraries are closed.
Keep safe, stay healthy and active. Remember to shelter in place. #doingMIpart
